I’m very much looking forward to Sally and Rohan’s wedding in April. There are so many past-couple connections with Sally and Rohan that it’s quite amazing, so it’ll be great to see a lot of familiar faces again!

Back in November, we ventured out to Camelot Castle for an engagement shoot around twilight. It was a beautiful setting and perfect for Sally and Rohan, who envisioned something a little bit Rivendell for their photos! Rohan is a photographer, so poor Sally had to endure a bit of technical chatter-boxing about lenses. I had a lot of fun capturing their very beautiful connection. You can just see how much they mean to one another – they just glow with happiness!

I was very excited to capture this shoot, and am equally excited to share a little teaser of the final images with you all! I hope you enjoy them!

While I remember the first meetings with all my couples, I do remember with a special fondness the first time I met Anna-Lee and Tom. We’d been chatting via email for a few weeks or so about their wedding day. Their date hadn’t been finalised yet, but they were looking around October or November 2011. They were still in the process of choosing a venue. Back then, I was meeting couples over a coffee/thickshake at a cafe, and I loved them straight away. My inner chatterbox came tumbling out that day (okay, so maybe my chatterbox is never really ‘inner’) but I just remember how much I hoped I could work with them on their wedding day!

It was another of my few recent weddings that seemed to take awhile to come around – but again, it was worth the wait. While I had some concerns about getting into the city for their getting ready photos in the morning (it was the same day as the Christmas Pageant!) I made it in and parked with ease, with enough spare time for a coffee and cake across the road before we began.

The day unfolded in front of me and my camera, and I loved every second of it! It was such a relaxed, unique celebration between two wonderful people and their family and friends, many of whom had travelled from interstate and overseas to be a part of the day. Before the “official” reception began, we enjoyed speeches in the garden of Al Ru Farm at dusk. A great and very memorable moment was Anna-Lee’s Dad’s speech – because, as you will see, he is not entirely comfortable in formal wedding attire! Biggest thanks to Anna-Lee and Tom, two wonderful people, and their equally wonderful family and friends, for such a memorable experience.

It was a hot day – strangely enough, given the sporadic weather we’ve enjoyed over the past 2-3 months, it was definitely the hottest wedding day I’ve photographed in recent times, despite being at the beginning of November. The kind of heat where your shoes burn up the soles of your feet and the camera burns your nose! But the loveliness of the day of course distracted me (and I suspect, Lucinda and Jarryd!) from the heat, and then we were all rewarded with a cool change, a breeze and some soft cloud cover, just in time for our photos at Waterfall Gully.

Their wedding was booked with me some time ago (early in 2010, to be precise) so it felt like it was a long time coming. The wait was worth it and I couldn’t have asked for a lovelier time spent with amazing people!
