Tonight I had the honour of photographing the gorgeous Heidi Kerr-McGee, of Heidi K Photography, and her family of three little girls and one husband. Heidi purchased an Angelsmith Photography portrait session from the Clicks for Kids auction, which was held late last year to raise money for a mission trip in Thailand.

The session was so much fun – we found some beautiful spots and some yummy golden light to work with. The great thing about working with a fellow photographer is that she was thinking ahead – there were heaps of cute accessories to work with, including feather pillows, quilts, a teepee, tribal masks, flowers, butterflies, strawberries and teddy bears. (And, because I’m a wedding photographer at heart, I just had to sneak in a few little smoochy moments with Heidi and her other half – but those will come later!)

I wanted to post a quick sneaky-peek of the session here. More will come soon!

I loved everything about Katarzyna and Simon’s wedding. Simon is a true gentleman, friendly and down-to-earth. He very clearly adores Katarzyna, who in turn adores him. Everything about the day seemed to spill over with warmth and quiet passion.

The ceremony was held at The Monastery (on the corner of Glen Osmond Road and Portrush Road). I watched Simon’s face as Katarzyna came down the aisle; I actually saw him say the words, “Oh, wow!” They were so happy to be there and to be marrying each other, it gave me goosebumps.

At the reception, which was hosted at Festival Function Centre, Simon surprised Katarzyna with a song he had written especially for her; they waltzed to it as he mouthed the words. (Predictably, I had tears running down my cheeks).

I loved the day and would do it all again in an instant.

rhiannon: Those dance scenes are just gorgeous! The lighting looks amazing!

Emma Sharkey: They just look smitten with each other don't they! E X

Melanie & Tom {The Wedding}

January 18, 2010

There aren’t enough adjectives available to describe how much of a joy Melanie & Tom’s wedding was to photograph. It was an absolute scorcher of a day (remember that heatwave of 40-something degrees? Yes, this wedding was on the Saturday – peaking at 43C) but it was so worth it! Definitely an experience to remember. Melanie & Tom, and their bridal party, are wonderful people and everything about the day, from start to finish, was beautiful.

A huge thank you to the bride and groom, of course, their families and their amazing bridal party who made my job incredibly easy, fun and made me feel so welcome!

Emma Sharkey: WOW! I love these. They both look so happy. Love the shots in the wine centre and out the front, colours look great. Also love your B & W conversions. YUM! E X

Naomi Dalle Nogare: These are the most amazing photos. You are a very talented photographer albeit you had a stunning bride and groom to photograph (oh and bridesmaids :) ) from one of Mels Bridesmaids. Stunning!

Lora: wow, you cant even tell its 43 degrees, even during the ceremony, love the photos amongst the bottles! Beautiful!

Georgia and Carey’s wedding was my first of 2010. They contacted me about a month before their wedding with friends, and members of their bridal party, having had their wedding photographed by me almost two years prior. Given this semi-anniversary, I thought it would be nice to recap a few photos from Danae & Wayne’s wedding, from January 2008:

Georgia and Carey’s wedding was a relaxed, simple yet elegant and personalised day. They are both absolutely lovely people, and so much fun to work with. Their bridal party was fantastic as well, and of course there were a few familiar faces! They were married at St. George’s Anglican Church in Magill, followed by some photos at Henley Beach and finally with a reception at Westward Ho Golf Club at Adelaide Shores.

This wedding was a joy to photograph. Thank you to Georgia and Carey for letting me share it with you!

kara cavill: the photos are so lovely i wish i was there to help them celerbrate

Kit & Ben {The Wedding}

January 7, 2010

This blog post is a little belated, thanks to the pre-Christmas rush and of course Christmas itself, but I am very pleased to present photos from Kit & Ben’s lovely wedding, held in mid-December. In fact, their wedding was held on Saturday anniversary of my own wedding the year prior. It was really nice to witness another marriage on the anniversary of my own!

Kit and Ben are very warm, lovely people and just a lot of fun to be around. The ceremony was held at Tusmore Uniting Church, with the reception at the Edinburgh Hotel in Mitcham. It was the first time I had attended a ceremony there – and I loved it!

There was some fantastic moments and really personal touches on the day – there were two ministers, a husband and wife team who were also close friends with the bride and groom; the ’something blue’ sequinned ballet flats that Kit wore (very sensible, I thought, and just what I would have done if I’d thought of it at my wedding!); the ‘how-well-do-you-know-Kit-and-Ben’ heads-and-tails game that all the guests played after the bride and groom were announced into the reception; the Tree of Awesome at the reception; and the surprise from the boys (you’ll have to wait and see!)

Thanks for having me Ben & Kit – it was a fantastic day.

A Year In Pictures

January 1, 2010

2009 is over, but 2010 is just beginning! I’m looking forward to what’s ahead, but also look back on the past year with great fondness.

Thanks to all the brides and grooms who gave me the opportunity to be a part of their wedding day. Each and every wedding has been special to me.

Below is 2009…in pictures.

Emma Sharkey: Beautiful! What a great year you have had. E X

Meg @ Sienna Wedding: Gorgeous photography! So glad i found your blog. I'd love to feature one of these on my blog!

Merry Christmas!

December 23, 2009

This year has been a fantastic one, and I’d like to wish all my readers and clients – past and future – and all the wonderful industry colleagues I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know, a very safe and happy holiday and New Year.

Next year promises to be really exciting, with some great new products available (more information coming soon!) and new projects on the horizon. I’m really looking forward to what the future year(s) will bring, and thank all who have helped to shape 2009 as an amazing year for me and for Angelsmith Photography as a business. I really appreciate the support, encouragement and friendships that have grown (and will continue to grow).

Merry Christmas.

Manda: Happy 2010 Karalee! I hope your photography continues to get you the recognition you deserve! <3

Felicity and Steven’s wedding just beautiful. Both the ceremony and the reception were held at Mt Lofty House. The weather was idyllic. Felicity’s dress was divine and so unique. Her flowers were amazing and so perfectly suited to the elegant, chic garden theme – roses and hydrangeas in varying shades of pinks and purples.

Felicity and Steven are very warm and welcoming people, and their bond is incredibly obvious. As Felicity ascended the aisle with a unique twist, the air buzzed with the sensation of how special this moment was for them – and everybody. They were surrounded by some fantastic people, many of whom I felt privileged to chat to and get to know throughout the reception. Everybody made me feel welcome and made the experience an absolute joy.

Emma Sharkey: What a STUNNING and completely gorgeous wedding! Love the emotion you have captured in these images Karalee E X

Jacinta & Jason {The Wedding}

December 10, 2009

Two weekends ago, I photographed Jacinta and Jason’s wedding. It was an absolute joy of a day to witness. Jacinta and Jason are two incredibly warm, happy, sweet and serene people. They are clearly very much in love and just glowed all day.

We had a really fun time photographing down by the Brighton jetty as ominous storm clouds approached (personally, I’m a big fan of such clouds!) and had a few bursts of lovely sunlight to break up the soft drizzle. The reception was held at Belair Country Club.

Thanks Jacinta and Jason – you are both very special people. xx

P.S. Jacinta is one incredibly organised girl who planned her wedding day to perfection. She has started her own wedding planning business – if you are looking for a wedding planner, please let me know and I will forward her details to you!

Amanda & Shaun {The Wedding}

December 3, 2009

Amanda and Shaun had an amazingly elegant, vintage-themed wedding day which I photographed last weekend. So much attention was paid to detail, from the vintage glo-mesh clutch bag Amanda wore (belonging to her grandmother), the pearl-and-diamante earrings from Acoustic Stomach, the individually designed (by Amanda!) coffee-coloured bridesmaids’ dresses worn by the five girls, the beige suits for the groomsmen, the gorgeous flowers, and the absolutely breathtaking, intricately-beaded gown Amanda wore.

The ceremony was held in the Botanic Gardens, with photography around the Gardens (until it started to rain – the crazy weather held out really well for us until that point, thank goodness!), at The Bath hotel on Norwood Parade, and finishing with a gorgeous reception at Sfera’s in Modbury.

Thank you so much, Amanda and Shaun, for having me there as your photographer and giving me the chance to share in your celebrations!

Lyn: Lovely! Do you know where the dress was from and who make up artist was? ;)
