Happy Friday! While most people are winding down toward the weekend, I’m winding up for a wedding. My adrenaline rush starts to kick in on a Friday, and my headspace becomes occupied with the wedding I’m about to shoot, and all the little things to think about in preparation. Are my bags all packed? Is my phone charged? Is my car clean and respectable-looking? Weddings take a lot of thinking about!
Today, I thought I’d share with you a few of the things in life that make me happy (other than the givens – you know, my job, my family, etc!)
…YouTube. It’s a huge time-sucker, but it’s amazing all the things you can find and do on YouTube. For example, I spent a good hour the other night watching clips of Mary Poppins…in German. Seriously! I had no idea they did that! It wasn’t quite the same, but still!
…Two new words, courtesy of one of my gorgeous November brides, Amy. Troglodite (troggle for short) – to describe a “cave-dweller” or someone a bit behind on the eight-ball. And the best one so far: SupercalafrickinAWESOME. That is officially my new favourite word. If I use it in your presence, try not to cringe (or run away!)
…Cadbury Blackforest. I don’t want to admit how much of this amazing stuff I have consumed recently…but I can promise you it was worth it…
…Ikea. I really must stop looking through the catalogues, and avoid taking long detours just to “make sure there isn’t anything there that I need.” It’s a dangerous place. Enter with caution!
Snuggly winter weather. I imagine this is steadily on the decline, with the onset of spring. I hate the cold, but I absolutely love getting rugged up with a blanket and a good book or movie on the couch. That definitely keeps me happy, especially if it’s combined with aforementioned chocolate and with a Pepsi Max (my subsitute for alcohol, which for some reason I don’t enjoy).
Old rolls of film. The other day, while unpacking, I found about 8 rolls of film taken maybe seven years ago. I had no idea what was on there, so I took them to be developed. It was so exciting. I adore digital, but there is something almost nostalgic and suspenseful about waiting for film to be developed and getting a surprise, seeing what comes out of it. In this case, I found loads of photos (taken back when I had no clue whatsoever what I was doing with my camera!) from high school. Hilarious. It kept me giggling for hours.
Facebook. I have a love-hate relationship with this creature. On one hand, it keeps me in touch with people I know and friends I’ve made. On the other hand, it’s distracting and can create headaches. As a little plug, why not become a fan of Angelsmith Photography on Facebook?
Well, that’s all for this week. I’m looking forward to a new wedding season, commencing tomorrow, and being able to update my blog more regularly with the gorgeous people and the gorgeous weddings I’m lucky to be able to photograph!
